How to Recommend a Student for Credit:

Once you have logged into the system, with your username and password, you are taken to your teacher menu page.

On this page click on View Classes / Competencies.  This will take you to your a page listing all of your approved classes.

Click on the blue arrow in the far right column, the one with the numbers, and you will be taken to a page with  your class roster.

At the far right of each students name you will see the word View. Click on View to see the Student Competency Form for that student.

Marking the Student Competency Form:

Does a teacher have to wait until finals are over to recommend a student? The answer is NO, the Student Competency Form is not a rating of the student’s performance on the high school portion of the class work or their grade in the class.  It is a reflection of their performance on the items listed on the form and can be marked as the items are covered throughout the year.

*****The student must have a grade of 80 or above and your recommendation to he eligible for credit.  The college registrar will check both, and if the student doesn’t have both they will not be eligible for TP credit.******

Does a teacher have to recommend students for credit if they make better than an 80 in the course?  The answer is NO, it is your recommendation on the student’s ability to complete the items listed on the Student Competency form.  The items should be evaluated against college work and are not evaluated on the high school grade achieved.  We have had students who have made a grade higher than 94 on the high school portion of the course and not be recommended for the college credit.  This is rare, but applies in some cases,  this case the student was an excellent test taker but could not do the college work on their own.

Students who receive a modification to the college course syllabus should not be recommended for college credit.  You do not have to fill in the marks 1-5 for these student's.  Go to the bottom of the form and click 'Not Recommended'.  You must add a reason why they are not recommended in the Comment Box if you do not mark the student.  We recommend something like this:  Student received a modification to the course syllabus.

(Students who have approved modifications in the following areas may be eligible for Tech-Prep credit.  Modifications in the time allowed to take test, and complete assignments.  Modifications in text, handouts, and other printed materials including test.  Modifications in equipment including computers and school equipment.  If you have a question contact your Tech-Prep coordinator, Ann Brogger, or the director, Katie Kucera.)

Please remind your students that they are in a Golden Crescent Tech-Prep Course and they are eligible to earn free college credit at Victoria College if they meet all requirements.
